The grand opening of the 2022 Alpha Architecture Conference was recently held at the Aedas-designed Nan Fung International Convention & Exhibition Center in Guangzhou. During the conference, Aedas Executive Director Kelvin Hu attended a forum titled “Transformation of Smart Sustainable Cities”, organised by the World Architecture Festival China (WAFC).
During the forum in his keynote speech on Urban Renewal, Kelvin showcased a number of Aedas-designed projects, such as the Hong Kong Centres of Central, Shenzhen Luohu Chuanbu Street Shanty Town Redevelopment Project, Shenzhen Airport Training Base, Shenzhen Zhiliantai Industrial Park Urban Renewal Project, Hong Kong West Kowloon Station, and Shenzhen C FutureCity.
Through the presentation of these seminal projects, he advanced the idea that the historical narratives of our city landscapes can be restored by optimising urban structures. It has the ability to reanimate social dynamics, and propel the realisation of sustainable development goals.
Besides the growing relevance of automation, digitalization, and green initiatives in relation to sustainable designs, Hu emphasised the importance of considering communities’ wellbeing in the reshaping of future cities.
The Alpha Architecture Conference is held in Guangzhou every year in March. Aside from exhibiting new and exciting architectural projects from around the world, professional conferences on topical subjects are held, in collaboration with major media platforms and organisations.
