Keith Griffiths shares his view at the CTBUH 2019 Tall + Urban Innovation Conference

12 April 2019

The three-day CTBUH Tall + Urban Innovation Conference was successfully held in Shenzhen. As a keynote speaker, Keith Griffiths, Chairman and Global Design Principal of Aedas, gave a speech titled “Public Space and Porosity of Super Tall Buildings” on 9 April. He also shared Aedas’ experience and insights in super high-rise building designs.

In his presentation, Keith explained the need for more public space and pedestrian access to cope with the high-density. Road networks and public space require high porosity at lower levels of the buildings. The ground floor of high-rise towers also needs to be seamlessly connected to multi-layered public podium, parks and facilities with high porosity, high ventilation, and natural lighting. He then shared three Aedas projects in China as examples with the audience: Shenzhen C FutureCity Phase 1 & 2, Zhuhai Hengqin CRCC Plaza and Chongqing Jiefangbei Xinhua Book City Mixed-use Project.
