Aedas Global Design Principal Ken Wai is invited to participate in a design forum hosted by Dezeen and Shanghai Design Week in Osaka, Japan, focusing on the theme ‘Reconnecting people and nature through sustainable living.’

This forum, part of the ‘Shanghai Summer’ global campaign, is co-hosted by the Shanghai Municipal Commission of Economy and Informatization, Commerce Commission and Administration for Market Regulation, with support from the Changning District Commerce Commission, Shanghai Design Week, Shanghai Fashion Designers Association and The Paper. It focuses on the application of sustainable design in future urban renewal, bringing together prominent guests from the architecture and design fields in China and Japan.

Ken discusses how architectural design can address challenges in urban renewal, cultural diversity, and resource sustainability. Drawing on Aedas’ global experience, he shares insights on the transformation of old factories, integration of architecture into communities, and the importance of flexible and non-limited functional design for sustainable development. He highlights, ‘Design should respond to current functional needs while providing flexible support for future changes. By integrating innovative multifunctional design with local cultural heritage, we can create adaptive and inclusive cities for the future.’
