Aedas Global Design Principal Ken Wai was recently awarded the 2021 LI Dehua and LUO Xiaowei’s Design Chair of Tongji University, and a grand ceremony was held in celebration of this achievement.
Established in 2017, the “LI Dehua and LUO Xiaowei’s Design Chair” program aims to promote the discipline’s development, as well as cultivate talents in the field. The titular Chinese architects were masters of planning and landscape design, mentors for students at the university during their time.
Ken Wai hosted an academic seminar titled “Finding Balance”, sharing his design philosophy and methodology. “Architectural design is about marrying rationality and sensibility. As architects, it is not sufficient to merely focus on solving current problems. It is equally important to look beyond the present.”
