The first seminar for the RIBA China Chapter was held on June 14, 2020 at the Capella Hotel in Shanghai. Under the theme “Sustainable Architecture and Environmental Design,” Ken Wai presented a keynote speech on “The Architecture of Coexistence” at the conference.

“During the process of urbanization, the key to sustainable development is not in height, but density. In high-density spaces, buildings do not need to be uniquely designed. Rather, they must coexist with the city, its neighbourhoods and its people. In high-density cities, the design of functional buildings must be connective to public transportation as it is a crucial element of a sustainable development,” said Ken Wei.
