The ‘Building Dreams in the Sky’ Forum, co-hosted by The UK Department for International Trade (DIT), The Chartered Institute of Building (CIOB), and Shanghai Xintian Real Estate Co. Ltd., was held with great success recently in Shanghai. Aedas Global Design Principal Ken Wai was invited as a keynote speaker to share Aedas’ past practical experiences in doing large-scale constructions and to elaborate on the role they play in urban sustainability.
Themed ‘TOD Development and Operation’, the event has invited senior industry experts from China and the UK to share their insights on the forecasts for China’s urban rail transit development. ‘In the process of urban development, the concept of sustainability has reached new heights and now emphasises the coexistence of “people”, “city” and “nature”. In terms of a TOD’s functionality, it acts as a multi-system transportation hub which reduces carbon emissions; In terms of its layout, great accessibility is achieved by efficient circulation planning; In terms of its structure, a TOD connects the surrounding plots and activates pedestrian flow, enhancing the living environment and promoting urban development altogether,’ said Ken.
