Despite having been completed in 2017, Executive Director Cary Lau and Henry Chau’s The Beacon wins a 2019 Hong Kong Institute of Architects (HKIA) Cross-Strait Architectural Design Symposium and Awards (CADSA) Merit Award.
As a Winning Entry, The Beacon is being displayed at the 2019 HKIA CADSA Roving Exhibition at One ifc Main Concourse in Central, Hong Kong.
The 2019 HKIA CADSA Roving Exhibition was inaugurated on June 23, 2020 at the Exhibition’s Opening Ceremony. Cary Lau and Henry Chau attended the Opening Ceremony to commemorate the occasion.
2019 adopted the theme ‘Shape the Shapeless’ with designs focused around the exploration and expansion of the Cross-Strait regions and Belt and Road countries. In recognition of design excellence, all awarded designs facilitate and contribute to economic and infrastructure advancement and positive social impact while also embracing cultural and ecological sensitivity.
Cary Lau also sits on the Pre-Selection Jury Panel for HKIA’s Student Category and found that 2019’s theme, “’Shape and Shapeless,’ brought students from the cross-strait regions together. Entries were inspiring and poetic, and the topic allowed diversified interpretations and imagination to go beyond boundaries.”
