We are pleased to announce that Aedas-designed Trojena Ski Village is shortlisted under Future Projects –Leisure-led Development category at the prestigious World Architecture Festival (WAF) Awards 2024.
Trojena Ski Village, part of the NEOM mega project in the Kingdom of Saudi Arabia, it envisioned as the first sub-zero snow destination and outdoor ski resort in the Gulf offering year-round adventure sports. This futuristic, world-class destination is sculpted to respond to the natural topography. The 2,400m high altitude Ski Village will house six distinctive clusters that blend real with virtual architectural and engineering innovations, including ski slopes on the roof, to create a destination like no other. Offering exceptional human-centric experiences, the elevated mixed-use village will comprise of hotels, commercial spaces, entertainment, sports facilities, and residential accommodation.
Led by Aedas Global Design Principal Ignacio Gomez, Trojena Ski Village is designed to be a year-round tourist destination. In addition to sporting events, the venue will host art, music and cultural festivals. While winter offers the chance to ski down Trojena’s snowy slopes, during the rest of the year, visitors will be able to ski on the synthetic surface slopes, engage in mountain biking, enjoy the zip line, Alpine coaster, and a variety of mountain sports in a one-of-a-kind place where technology meets nature.
Launched in 2008, the World Architecture Festival has been bringing the global architecture community together in different cities around the world for over a decade. It is the only architecture event where keynote talks from the industry’s most influential figures sit alongside live presentations and judging, global networking, and an international product exhibition.
