Heartland 66

Wuhan / PRC

Close to the light rail and subway network, the LEED Gold certified Heartland 66 mixed-use development is located along Jinghan Avenue in Qiaokou District, Wuhan’s bustling business hub.

The design concept — infinite loop — is taken from the Chinese art of knot tie, which symbolizes fortune and good wishes. In the design of Heartland 66, the retail blocks, F&B terraces, sunken plaza and landscaping on the east and west sites, are woven together by a set of knots tied to and integrated with a jade ornament, developed as a response to the site’s circulation patterns resulting from a bisecting road. The concept is also manifested in the pedestrian circulation of the building which leads to, and is anchored by, a series of green terraces in the rooftop Sky garden that is set at the heart of the scheme.
