Hotel G

Singapore

The hotel responds to the streetscape by allowing the bar and restaurant to interact with the street. The large glass screens can open up to bring the bustling townscape into the restaurant, helping to draw and intrigue passing crowds and creating an easy-to-mingle environment. Ceilings are exposed and raw. All areas allow activities – for dining or for hotel residents to plug in and work on the long tables.

The guest room corridors provided a great opportunity to create a cityscape design which is unique to the hotel. Tailor-made furniture are used throughout the project. The photography hanging on the wall inside the rooms was also specifically designed to provide reference to Singapore the urban city. The water coolers in the guest floors were designed as a fun take on the popular photo-automat, converted to an ice-and water automat. The high tables in the lobby were designed to accommodate hat stands, making a playful reference to ‘dropping your hat off at home’. Traditional timber chairs are used to reflect the casual nature of the property.
