From 2012 to 2014, Aedas undertook the preparation of the Urban Design Guidelines for the Zhuhai Shizimen Central Business District and Hengqin Port Service Area. The project was commissioned by the Zhuhai Hengqin New Area Planning and Land Bureau and Huafa Group, with Huafa Group serving as the primary land consolidator. The outcomes of the guidelines were developed in parallel with the government’s regulatory plan and serve as both mandatory and recommended guidelines for land leasing and land development.
The urban development vision for Hengqin New Area is to embody the principles of scientific development, highlight Hengqin’s position as a “special zone within a special zone,” promote urban integration of Zhuhai city and Macau, and attract high-end service industries and high-tech enterprises. The goal is to create a balanced urban masterplan, provide human-centric urban services, green and efficient transportation systems, and a harmonious natural and built environment. The area aims to foster an international business environment and an ecological living environment, to fulfil a “mountain-and-ocean metropolis on the ecological island.”
To date, the construction of land parcels, urban road networks, and primary waterways laid out in accordance with the guidelines have been completed. Within the master plan area, Aedas-led architectural projects, such as the Hengqin International Financial Centre Tower, Hengqin Headquarters Tower, and MCC Port Tower, are currently under construction.
